Housewarming and griha pravesh
For a new home, the murti is usually the first thing installed in the mandir — which makes it a genuinely meaningful griha pravesh gift rather than a decorative one. Keep it modest in scale: a first mandir is often a shelf, and a 6-inch murti fits where an 11-inch will not. If the family has just moved into a larger home with a dedicated pooja room, the 11-inch becomes the better choice.

Wedding return gifts, in quantity
Return gifting has two constraints most sellers ignore: every guest must receive an identical piece, and two hundred of them must survive transport. Three conventions worth knowing before you gift
- Give a whole, undamaged murti. Never gift a chipped or repaired piece — check it before wrapping.
- Match the deity to the household, not to your own preference. If in doubt, Lakshmi and Ganesha are welcomed almost universally.
- Present it, don't post it, where you can. Handing over a murti in person is part of the gesture.
