About Vishnupriya Arts
We’re a Mumbai workshop that makes temple-shrine murtis of the city’s goddesses, Shree Mahalaxmi and Shree Mumba Devi, and of Lord Shiva on Nandi, in hand-painted marble dust or gold and silver plating.
- Made in Mumbai
- Finished by hand
- Ships India & worldwide
It started with Mumbai’s own temples
At the Mahalaxmi Temple on Bhulabhai Desai Road, three goddesses share one sanctum: Mahakali, Mahalaxmi and Mahasaraswati. At Bhuleshwar, Mumba Devi, the goddess Mumbai is named after, sits beneath twin domes beside Jagdamba and Annapurna Devi.
Families take darshan there, but a murti of the shrine itself was hard to find. So that is what we make: the whole sanctum, with every goddess in her place and her name on the plinth, sized for a home mandir.
We also make Lord Shiva on Nandi, and we take custom orders for other deities, sizes and finishes.

The same four steps for every piece, in our Mumbai workshop.
Cast in marble dust
Fine marble dust sets in a hand-finished mould until it holds a stone-like form.
Detailed by hand
Artisans sharpen crowns, jewellery and garment folds with fine files and carving tools.
Painted or plated
Colour goes on in layers, with the eyes painted last. Gold and silver pieces are plated instead.
Sealed, checked, packed
A waterproof coat on painted pieces, a final inspection, then cushioned packing for the journey.
What our murtis are made of
We’d rather you know exactly what you’re buying, so here it is plainly.
- Marble dust body. Fine marble dust cast in a mould, not carved solid marble. It holds crisp detail and weighs far less.
- Multicolour finish. Hand-painted and sealed with a waterproof coat, so tilak, flowers and a damp cloth won’t harm it.
- Gold & silver finish. A real layer of gold and silver plating, not solid metal. Keep it dry and wipe it with a soft cloth.
- Made by hand, so no two are identical. Small differences in paint and finish are part of each piece.
More detail: what marble dust really is and how gold plating works.

Ask for a quoteWhat are your murtis made of?
A fine marble dust body, finished one of two ways: hand-painted in multicolour and sealed with a waterproof coat, or plated in gold and silver. Plating is a real layer of metal, not solid gold or silver. Read what marble dust really is.
Can I use them for daily puja with water?
The multicolour marble-dust murtis, yes: the waterproof coat protects the paint from tilak, flowers and a damp cloth. Gold and silver plated murtis should be kept dry and wiped with a soft cloth to protect the plating.
