The murti is plated with pure gold and silver over a sculpted base — you get the look and auspiciousness of precious metal at a fraction of a solid-metal price. It is not a solid gold/silver casting.
Use only a soft, dry cloth. Never use water, silver polish or chemicals on plated surfaces — gentle dry wiping keeps the shine for years.
